Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

netlabel: fix out-of-bounds memory accesses

There are two array out-of-bounds memory accesses, one in

cipso_v4_map_lvl_valid(), the other in netlbl_bitmap_walk(). Both

errors are embarassingly simple, and the fixes are straightforward.

As a FYI for anyone backporting this patch to kernels prior to v4.8,

you'll want to apply the netlbl_bitmap_walk() patch to

cipso_v4_bitmap_walk() as netlbl_bitmap_walk() doesn't exist before

Linux v4.8.

Remediation

Check the references section for vendor advisories, patches, and mitigation guidance. If immediate patching is not possible, review the CVSS vector to understand the attack surface and apply compensating controls such as network segmentation or access restrictions.

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2019-25160?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2019-25160 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
