Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

netfilter: nftables: avoid overflows in nft_hash_buckets()

Number of buckets being stored in 32bit variables, we have to

ensure that no overflows occur in nft_hash_buckets()

syzbot injected a size == 0x40000000 and reported:

UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in ./include/linux/log2.h:57:13

shift exponent 64 is too large for 64-bit type 'long unsigned int'

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2021-46992?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2021-46992 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
