Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

net: ethernet: fix potential use-after-free in ec_bhf_remove

static void ec_bhf_remove(struct pci_dev *dev)

{

...

struct ec_bhf_priv *priv = netdev_priv(net_dev);

unregister_netdev(net_dev);

free_netdev(net_dev);

pci_iounmap(dev, priv->dma_io);

pci_iounmap(dev, priv->io);

...

}

priv is netdev private data, but it is used

after free_netdev(). It can cause use-after-free when accessing priv

pointer. So, fix it by moving free_netdev() after pci_iounmap()

calls.

Remediation

Check the references section for vendor advisories, patches, and mitigation guidance. If immediate patching is not possible, review the CVSS vector to understand the attack surface and apply compensating controls such as network segmentation or access restrictions.

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2021-47235?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2021-47235 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
