Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

block: Fix wrong offset in bio_truncate()

bio_truncate() clears the buffer outside of last block of bdev, however

current bio_truncate() is using the wrong offset of page. So it can

return the uninitialized data.

This happened when both of truncated/corrupted FS and userspace (via

bdev) are trying to read the last of bdev.

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2022-48747?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2022-48747 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
