Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

fbdev: sis: Error out if pixclock equals zero

The userspace program could pass any values to the driver through

ioctl() interface. If the driver doesn't check the value of pixclock,

it may cause divide-by-zero error.

In sisfb_check_var(), var->pixclock is used as a divisor to caculate

drate before it is checked against zero. Fix this by checking it

at the beginning.

This is similar to CVE-2022-3061 in i740fb which was fixed by

commit 15cf0b8.

Remediation

Check the references section for vendor advisories, patches, and mitigation guidance. If immediate patching is not possible, review the CVSS vector to understand the attack surface and apply compensating controls such as network segmentation or access restrictions.

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2024-26777?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2024-26777 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
