Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

netfilter: nf_tables: Fix potential data-race in __nft_obj_type_get()

nft_unregister_obj() can concurrent with __nft_obj_type_get(),

and there is not any protection when iterate over nf_tables_objects

list in __nft_obj_type_get(). Therefore, there is potential data-race

of nf_tables_objects list entry.

Use list_for_each_entry_rcu() to iterate over nf_tables_objects

list in __nft_obj_type_get(), and use rcu_read_lock() in the caller

nft_obj_type_get() to protect the entire type query process.

Remediation

Check the references section for vendor advisories, patches, and mitigation guidance. If immediate patching is not possible, review the CVSS vector to understand the attack surface and apply compensating controls such as network segmentation or access restrictions.

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2024-27019?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2024-27019 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
