Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

io_uring: check for non-NULL file pointer in io_file_can_poll()

In earlier kernels, it was possible to trigger a NULL pointer

dereference off the forced async preparation path, if no file had

been assigned. The trace leading to that looks as follows:

BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 00000000000000b0

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2024-39371?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2024-39371 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
