Technical description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ptp: vmclock: Set driver data before its usage

If vmclock_ptp_register() fails during probing, vmclock_remove() is

called to clean up the ptp clock and misc device.

It uses dev_get_drvdata() to access the vmclock state.

However the driver data is not yet set at this point.

Assign the driver data earlier.

How can CyberStrike help with CVE-2025-21822?

CyberStrike is an open-source, AI-augmented pentesting engine. Rather than flag a version number, it tests whether an issue like CVE-2025-21822 is actually reachable in your own applications and APIs, then verifies each finding before reporting it. That tells you if the weakness is a real, exploitable risk in your environment or a false positive you can safely deprioritize.
